William (Bill) Geraghty, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6th. The son of Martin James and Bridget Geraghty, Bill was born on July 30th, 1923. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marie (Becky) Geraghty, his sister Katherine Geraghty and his four children; Anne Henderson and her husband John, Lucy Cushman, Martin Geraghty and his wife Maria all of Stamford, CT, Joan Colasso and her husband John of Franklin, TN. Bill also had 6 grandsons, Mark Henderson and his wife Jana, Ryan Henderson, Michael Colasso, Robert Colasso and his wife Charlotte, Eric Cushman and his wife Megan and Matthew Cushman and one great-grandson, Benjamin Henderson.
Bill was a life-long Stamford resident and served his country honorably in the army during World War II. He was stationed in Europe as a member of the Military Police and was on the beaches of Normandy after D-Day. After leaving the service, Bill earned his Mechanical Engineering degree at the Bridgeport Engineering Institute. During his career he worked as a project manager for many Stamford based companies including Yale and Towne and AMF.
Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, and took pride in watching the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He was a quiet and reflective man but had many interests. As an engineer he had a natural curiosity in how things worked. Bill enjoyed doing math puzzles, word games and watching classic movies, especially Westerns and Science Fiction stories. He was an avid follower of current events and the economy. His passing leaves a void of quiet wisdom, compassion and stability.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday June 11th at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 12th at 10:00am at St. Leo’s Church, 24 Roxbury Rd., Stamford, CT followed by burial at St. John’s Cemetery, Stamford, CT.
