Sean Manuel Gage, age 30, passed away May 1, 2010, in Stamford, CT. Born and raised in Stamford, he resided at 10 Eureka Terrace. Through elementary and high school, Sean was an avid Boy Scout where he attained the top rank of Eagle Scout receiving many awards for his public service including a project for the Greenwich Audobon Society. Sean graduated from Fairfield Prep in 1998, where he excelled in academics and played football and lacrosse; also at Prep, he was named as a Scholar Athlete by the National Football Foundation, and to the College Hall of Fame. He then graduated from University of Delaware in 2002, with a BA in Fine Arts and Economics. Sean was an eight year veteran with the Stamford Fire & Rescue Department most recently assigned to the South End Fire Station on Washington Blvd. Sean was an outstanding firefighter, but most of all an outstanding, compassionate person that cared about the citizens he was sworn to protect and serve as a firefighter. On October 6, 2007, while competing in a half marathon in Ridgefield, CT., Sean stopped to work on a competitor whom had suffered a cardiac arrest, successfully reviving him. In 2008, Sean was awarded Stamford Fire Fighter of the Year. In addition to his role as a Fire Fighter, Sean was also a talented abstract painter, logo designer, tattoo artist, musician, fire station barber and cook, butcher, swimmer, surfer, rock climber, and Local 786 Running Team member and Climb Team member. Sean used his creative art talents for children by painting a three-wall mural (Noah’s Ark) for the children’s room at St. Clement Church, and two full wall murals (Lilo & Stitch, Spiderman) at Pediatrics, Nassau County Hospital, N.Y. As a very special individual, Sean has touched many lives and leaves a deep void in the Fire & Rescue Department, in his community, and the hearts of so many friends. His unquenchable zest for life, bravery, compassion for others, antics and sense of humor, and value for friendship will never be forgotten. Sean is survived by his parents John and Inda Gage, Stamford; his sisters Malen Gage, Greenwich, and Marla Woulf, South Burlington, VT; his brother-in-law Michael J. Woulf; his grandmother Marie Manuel, Honolulu, HI; as well as many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews all of which were special to him. Visitation is 2PM to 6PM, Sunday, May 9, at the Leo P. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30AM, Monday, May 10, at St. Clement of Rome Church, 535 Fairfield Avenue, Stamford, CT. 06902. Reception follows at the Ponus Yacht Club in Stamford.
