Robert J. Eaddy was born on July 9, 1951 in Charleroi-Monessen, PA to Mattie L. Lawson-Eaddy and Walter J. Eaddy. He lived with his family in Donora, PA until they moved to Norwalk, CT in 1962. Robert was educated in the Norwalk School system and had a robust childhood surrounded by his siblings, close cousins from Pennsylvania who came for summer jobs in CT, local family and close friends.
Robert received a Bachelors Degree in Liberal Arts from Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC, a Masters Degree from Howard University, School of Divinity in Washington, DC in 1990, and pursued post-graduate studies at the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. Robert was installed as Senior Pastor of Beecher Memorial Church, United Church of Christ in New Orleans, LA in May of 1996. Over more than 30 years, Robert has served as Senior Pastor and Assistant Pastor for the United Church of Christ (UCC), Presbyterian and Baptist Church in multiple cities throughout the country. In addition, Robert served as Chaplain at Hospice Savannah in Savannah, GA and Staff Chaplain at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, IL (near Chicago).
Robert leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Mattie Eaddy of Norwalk, CT, a daughter, Cicily Eaddy of Greensboro, NC, three sisters, JoAnn Dudley of Duquesne, PA, Carolyn Eaddy of New York and Arlene Eaddy of Norwalk, CT, a brother, David Eaddy of Chicago, IL, two nieces, Jocelyn Dudley of PA, Nicole' Eaddy of CT, a great nephew, Gregory Lammar Cash of FL and a great niece, Chyanne Thorne of CT, three great-great nieces and nephews and a host of cousins, friends and clergy. Robert was predeceased by his father, Walter J. Eaddy and a newborn son, Miles Kwame Eaddy (Marva Miles-Eaddy).
