Jo-Ann Taylor

Jo-Ann Taylor, Age 84, a 53-year resident of Westport passed away at Norwalk Hospital on May 20th, 2018. She was the wife of George E. Taylor and the daughter of Marguarita and James Wilson. She grew up in Ohio where she graduated from Middleport High School and attended Ohio University. She was an active volunteer contributing her energy and organizational skills to a variety of local charities and community organizations. She was a past member of the Board of Directors of the Nature Center (Earthplace), Fairfield County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, Visiting Homemakers and United Fund. She was chairman of the American Cancer Crusade for Westport and a long-time member of the Westport Young Women’s League. In 1968, she was the chairman of Fresh Air visits bringing hundreds of children to Westport for summer vacations, her favorite League Project. She was a 53 year member of Green’s Farms Congregational Church. She and Mr. Taylor were early members of the Cotillion Club.

In addition to her husband of 64 years, she is survived by a daughter Ann Lynch and her husband John Lynch of Wilton, a son George Taylor of Norwalk, four grandchildren, Christina, Kevin, Chelsea and Patrick Doherty of Wilton and three step-grandchildren John, Dan and Niki Lynch of Brookfield along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents, two sisters and two brothers. A memorial celebration of life service will be held at a later date. The family request that memorial contributions be made to the Westport PAL, c/o Westport Police Department, Westport CT.
