(1924 - 2017)
Regina Marie Reid Cavanaugh, 92, of Stamford CT, wife of the late Peter Paul Cavanaugh of Stamford, died May 31, 2017. She was born in Newburgh NY on June 27, 1924, the daughter of the late Theresa Burns Reid and David Spence Reid. When her father died in 1927, her mother moved the family to Stamford and later married James Stapleton, Jeans Stepfather, who also raised her and her siblings - the late David Spence Reid Jr of Stamford, and her surviving sister Marjorie Reid Upright of West Haven CT. Jean graduated in 1942 from Stamford High School and married her husband of 52 years, Paul, in 1948, after he returned from serving in the Army in WWII. In addition to her sister, she is survived by her four children: Deborah, Michael, Peter and Theresa; 9 Grandchildren: Casey, Kristen, Melissa, Matthew, Megan, Jennifer, Casey, Tessa and Christopher; and 10 great grandchildren: Megan, Michael, Brady, Macey, Kate, Olivia, Annika, Reese, Evelyn and Cecilia; her sister-in-law Marilyn Cavanaugh of Stamford as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews from across the country. Jean was happiest spending one on one time with her family and close friends. She was an avid photographer and always had her camera. She also loved being at her house in North Truro on Cape Cod, which she helped design and build alongside her husband and family in 1980. In Jean's high school yearbook her quote said, "Make yourself necessary to somebody". She was certainly necessary to her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
