Irene Jarosz O’Hara, a lifelong resident of Stamford, Ct. entered into God’s hands on Friday, October 25, 2024. She was surrounded by her grandson, her nephew and family. Irene died of natural causes at the age of 101 years old.
Born and raised in Stamford, Irene was the daughter of Andrew Jarosz and Jadwiga Szymanska Jarosz. She attended the Holy Name Parochial School and later worked at Pitney Bowes, when the cost of stamp was 2 cents.
During WWII, she worked at Pitney Bowes alongside many women helping the war effort manufacturing military products, such as, parachutes and uniforms for the American soldiers. After the war, she continued her tenure for close to fifty years, earning her a position as a supervisor in the US Postal equipment division.
Irene was an avid gardener, traveler, fashionable dresser, who enjoyed all of life within her means. She was always the first on the dance floor, with a love of music and an infectious smile. And much later in life, a toe tapping, song singing resident at Cassena Care Nursing Home.
She was predeceased by her parents and son, Edward O’Hara, and four siblings. Irene is survived by her grandson, Kristopher O’Hara and many nieces and nephews.
Irene lived a long and wonderful life, worthy of celebration!
A memorial mass will take place at Holy Name of Jesus, located in Stamford, Ct. on Monday, November 04, 2024 at 10 AM. A grave service will take place at St. John Cemetery located in Darien, Ct.
A special thank you to the Cassena Care Nursing Home in Stamford, for their care and attention to Irene. Also the devotion and love she received from Stamford Hospital. God Bless them All!
