Henry Howard Pavony, 85, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on June 2, 2024, at Stamford Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Born to Abraham and Esther Pavony on October 19, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, Hank, as he was affectionately known, was universally liked by all who knew him.
Hank graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Lehigh University. He had a long and successful career in finance, beginning as an audit manager for KPMG Peat Marwick in Manhattan, then as a controller and Director of Accounting for Olin Corporation, and finally retiring from the esteemed Weizmann Institute as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
A passionate sports fan, Hank served as vice president for Stamford Little League shortly after moving to Stamford in 1975. He often took his family to see the Mets at Shea Stadium and was a long-time season ticket holder for the NY Rangers.
In his retirement years, Hank avidly pursued golf with his beloved wife. They played near their home in Stamford, Connecticut during the summer months and in Boynton Beach, Florida at Hunters Run in the winter. When not on the golf course, Hank enjoyed gardening, reading, watching sports or The Food Channel in his favorite recliner, or making his famous ribs. He also cherished vacations to Disney World with his children and later with his grandchildren.
Hank is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Arleen (Ribak). He was predeceased by his son Steven. He leaves behind his daughters Ronni Rogers and Shari Kurzer, sons-in-law Eric Rogers and Greg Kurzer, and his grandchildren, Cassidy, Riley, Jake, Sammi, Marley, and Kylie, along with his sisters Gladys Simon and Linda Mastrangelo and his nephews Jonathan and Daniel Simon.
A funeral service followed by burial will take place at noon on Thursday, June 6, at Temple Beth El, 350 Roxbury Rd., Stamford, CT 06902.
