Anita Fasanelli passed away on December 2, 2022 at the age of 91 from complications of hip surgery. Born Anita Saliola on August 9, 1931 in Bronx, NY, she was raised in Mt. Vernon, NY. She and her husband Frank moved to Stamford in 1974 and she called it home ever since. Anita spent many years working for U.S. Tobacco in Greenwich, CT as a manager of their Employee Assistance Program. After her retirement, she continued to work for several physicians in Stamford and volunteered across many organizations, including FISH of Stamford for the last decade.
Anita was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who always put her family above all else. It was with great pride that she was fiercely independent up until her last days. She made friends wherever she went whether it was during her travel adventures, a grocery store, or with hospital staff in the final days of her life. She loved people and touched so many lives, always telling stories and sharing her positive outlook on life. You could often find her spending many hours on the phone with relatives across the country and in Italy. In true Italian fashion, she was famous for her talents in the kitchen and the generosity that followed a day of cooking. She was a woman of great faith and devoted patron of The Basilica of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Frank Fasanelli; her brother, Pasquale Saliola; and her son, Robert Fasanelli. She is survived by Margaret DeMaio (Jeff); Richard Fasanelli (Janet); Doreen Small (Ira); her sister, Michelina Misture; and daughter-in-law Corina Trujillo Fasanelli. Grandchildren: Jessica & Rebecca DeMaio; Marissa Fasanelli, Candace Sartory (Scott). Great grandchildren: Gabriella & Sophia Sartory and several nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 9 at 10a at The Basilica of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 279 Atlantic St. Stamford, CT. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx NY and be private. Relatives and friends may call at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 2900 Summer St, Stamford, CT, on Thursday, December 8 from 3-7p.
