Wanda Carol Aubrey

Wanda Carol Aubrey, 70 of Stafford, VA died on December 18, 2022 peacefully at her son's home surrounded by her family. She is survived by her son, Larry Neal (Sherry); her daughter, Kelly Lester (Benny Jr.); her grandchildren, Alan Lester (Mallory), Laura Dillon (Shane), Larry Neal II (Rachael), and Zachary Neal (Linnette Gonzalez); her great-grandchildren Rylan Lester, Joelle Dillon, Adeline Lester and Charlotte Dillon on the way; her nephew, Joe Swerchek (Shannon) and their children, Joe Swerchek Jr. and Noah Swerchek. Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Joe Buckles; her mother, Georgia Nell Buckles; her sister, Katie Buckles and husband, Larry Neal and son, William Neal. She was born on February 24, 1952 in Richlands, VA. After leaving Richlands and moving to Alexandria, VA she met and married Larry Neal on December 14, 1968. Together they raised their two children Larry Neal and Kelly Lester. Wanda graduated from Harrison Beauty College on July 7, 1969. She began her career in Alexandria, VA working in a beauty shop. Shortly after her family moved to Stafford, VA and she drove a school bus for a short period then began her thirty year career working in a bank. Peoples Bank of Stafford, Jefferson National Bank, Wachovia and she ended her career at Carter Bank and Trust as a bank manager. When Stafford was much smaller everyone knew her as their friendly banker. Wanda could be described as sassy and giving. She will be remembered as someone who took care of several family members compassionately during sickness and their final days on earth. She had a love for the beach and would spend hours sitting with her toes in the sand watching the waves. To all her family and friends please remember " As the ocean has no end, so does my love for you." A visitation for Wanda will be held Friday, December 30, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 186 Shelton Shop Rd, Stafford, Virginia 22554, followed by a celebration of life at 4:00 PM.
