Nelson was known for many things. He was an amazing and committed husband to his wife, the best dad to his daughters, and best son to his parents. He was unwaveringly present for his family. Because he was so family oriented, he made sure they felt safe and validated. He had an amazing and joyful heart of gold and it was evident when he stepped into a room and absolutely lit it up with his contagious smile and radiating kindness.
He was easy to love, especially due to his thoughtful, consistent, generous, and inspiring nature. He was such a passionate man when it came to his friends and family. They describe him as a safe place and everyone’s Band-Aid. He was not only a strong man, but was wise, grounded, and always wanted more for others in his life. He was a mentor and leader to many who knew him.
Nelson was expressive with so many things. He loved to dance, ride motorcycles with his daughters, host, and cook for his family and friends. He was a huge fan of cars, specifically BMW and Honda. He also enjoyed shooting and MMA.
His fearlessness, honesty, selflessness, bravery, and caring and protective nature helped in excel in his 8 years working in law enforcement at the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington DC.
He is survived by his wife, Valeria Casillas; daughters, Cataleya Isaned Casillas and Daniela Sophia Casillas; parents, Eyla Maldonado and Nelson Orlando Casillas Sr.; and sisters, Angie Casillas and Yoleyla Casillas.
A visitation for Nelson will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, 186 Shelton Shop Rd, Stafford, Virginia 22554. A funeral service will occur Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service.
Nelson will be remembered as a happy dreamer that was full of life and love. He was so loved by many and will be greatly missed.
