Kevin Thompson, 68 of Stafford VA, passed away on July 15th, 2023, due to ongoing illness as a result of medical complications. Kevin was born on September 16th, 1954, in the Bronx, New York. As a child, he enjoyed playing handball, basketball, and riding horses. He enjoyed riding his bike all over the city with his best friend Max and attempting (but often failing) to tag along with his older siblings Eric and Laverne. Kevin joined the Army in 1975 and worked as a logistician ,communications, and chemical engineering during his military career. His duty tours included Germany, California, New York, Korea, and Texas. During his service he received multiple awards to include the Army Achievement Medals and the Army Commendation Medal. Kevin always placed the mission first. He was relentless and efficient throughout his military duties. From his earliest childhood he was an avid New York sports fan. His love of sports continued after retirement, it was evident in his collection of sports memorabilia, including an extensive hat collection. He was not shy about sharing it with everyone. Kevin retired from the Army in 1995. However, the work ethic instilled in him by his military service would later compel him to work for the US Postal Service for 13 years. His unwavering dedication to duty culminated to over 30 years of service to the United States of America. In 1979 he met his wife Elvie, in New York City. Kevin and Elvie went on to have three children, Shaquanda, Zuri, and Kevin (K.T.). He devoted the rest of his life to his wife, children, and nine grandchildren. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents Bessie and George Thompson. He is survived by his siblings Eric and Laverne Thompson, his firstborn son Keith; his wife Elvie; their children and their spouses, Shaquanda and Danny Williams, Zuri and Wally Hildreth and Kevin and Mary Thompson; his grandchildren Corynthian, Shadae’, Key’Auri, Pheonix, Averi Jae, Davion, Dynah, Lilly, and Korban, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family to whom he acted as a surrogate father, uncle, grandfather, and brother. Kevin passed surrounded by family at Walter Reed Medical Center. His infectious energy, kindness and love of family will forever leave a hole in our hearts. Rest in Power.
