Gary Rousseau was born on October 25, 1970 in Portsmouth, NH to Madeline Hoyt and Gary Rousseau Sr. He married Crystal McCommon on September 18, 1993 and they had four children together. Gary Rousseau passed away on June 4, 2022.
Gary was a dedicated public servant who began his federal career in 1991 in the U.S. Air Force (USAF), serving in the enlisted corps as a security forces specialist for seven years. He attained the rank of TSgt (E-6) before completing his bachelor’s degree and gaining acceptance into Officer Training School. As a commissioned officer Gary attained the rank of Major (O-4) and served as a financial services officer, budget officer, and cost analyst. Gary retired from the USAF in 2011 which is when he began serving DHS as the Unit Chief for the Budget Formulation Unit, a position he held for more than 10 years. As the BFU Chief, Gary was directly responsible for building future year budgets, a daunting task he performed with great skill and efficiency. During his tenure as the BFU Chief, the budget increased by over a billion dollars in total. Most recently, Gary transitioned into the Unit Chief position over the Information Disclosure Unit.
Gary enjoyed working out and fishing, but what he loved the most was spending time with his family – Gary adored his kids and was deeply proud of them.
Gary is survived by his wife, Crystal and four children – Teagan, Shaina, Vincent, and Breasha. Please keep Gary’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Funeral Services will be held at 9:00AM Monday, June 13, 2022 at The Marine Memorial Chapel, 3251 Embry Loop, Quantico, VA 22134. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will follow the service at Quantico National Cemetery.
