Elsie Lorraine Kraus, 99, of Stafford, VA passed peacefully to her heavenly home on Friday, December 16, 2016. She was born on March 27, 1917 in Orange, VA to the late Minnie R. and Ellis C. Hall Sr. She was the oldest and the last of seven children.
She is survived by two daughters A. Marie Stanford (Roland) also her caregiver and Shirley L. Brown (Hensel) of Charlotte Courthouse, VA.
She is also survived by eleven grandchildren fifteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Jacob D. Kraus; son James D Kraus and two grandsons.
She was a fine Christian woman and read her Bible daily until she lost her sight. She was the oldest member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church.
Elsie sold AVON for 30 Years earning medals and awards. After the death of her husband Jacob, she went to work at Peoples Supply in Bladensburg, MD as a telephone operator and receptionist. Upon moving to Stafford in 1986, she worked at McDonalds making biscuits and salads.
She was a very talented seamstress. She made clothes for herself and family. She also made and sold dolls, Christmas tree skirts and anything else she thought of making.
Elsie was a true Christian lady serving The LORD through the Church and neighborhood. When she was losing her sight, she sold her home and moved in with Roland Marie who cared for her.
