He was born in Westbrook, Maine on December 3, 1959 to Raymond and Katherine Evans.
He graduated from Bonny Eagle High School in June of 1978.
Dwight was a proud Navy Veteran. As a FMF Corpsman, he was known by his friends as “Devil Doc or Doc”. He joined and completed Boot Camp in August 1978. He retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of service in 1999. He served in the Gulf War and was highly decorated. His decorations included the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Fleet Marine Force Ribbon, and Kuwait Liberation Medal.
Dwight was known for his sense of humor, ability to connect with people, and being a thoughtful listener. He was the type of person you could sit with for hours and talk about anything, and he would come back days later with a thoughtful insight showing he cared. What stood out most was his sense of humor – he had great comedic timing and had the ability to make anyone (including himself) laugh, which was a skill that could diffuse the most difficult situation.
Dwight loved music and playing the bass guitar. He was gifted at hearing a song and being able to play by ear, a talent that made many musicians envious. He also loved riding his Harley on wide open country roads, and the freedom that made him feel. He was highly skilled in the kitchen with the ability to cook just about anything. His love language might have been making a good home cooked meal for the family to enjoy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Katherine of Kezar Falls, Maine and his sister Betty Hanscom of Standish, Maine.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Evans; his four children, Danielle Corbin and her husband John Corbin, Kandice Chapin, David "Mugsy" Evans, Holli-Rae Evans; and his three grandchildren, Deondra Corbin, Aiyanna Corbin, and Joseph Chapin.
He is also survived by his three siblings, Jerry Evans, Keith Evans, and Kathi-Rae Perry; and many nieces and nephews.
A brief service will be held on October 18th at Quantico National Cemetery at 10:30 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Mission 22 or any Veteran organization of your choice.
