Mary Lena Lampson Bullock

Mary Lena Lampson Bullock, 94, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on November 4, 2024, in Brenham, Texas. Born on October 16, 1930, in Stafford, Texas, Mary grew up in the close-knit Italian community of Stafford and Missouri City. She graduated from Missouri City High School, attended University of Houston, and pursued her artistic passions, earning certificates from the Mo Ranch School of Porcelain Art and the Fernie Art Center.

Mary, for 17 years, worked as a key punch operator at Humble Oil/Exxon. Throughout her years at the company, she continually brought smiles and memories for many employees and families by creating and decorating for the annual Christmas banquets. Mary, a natural entrepreneur, established a company: Mary’s Flowers and Gifts, specializing in weddings, catering, and art framing. Brides were touched with receiving a complimentary homegrown orchid from her greenhouse given with the bridal bouquet.

Mary cherished her family deeply, especially her sister Baby and her sweet son Jimmy. As a beloved aunt, “Auntie” shared her love and wisdom with her nieces and nephews, Laurie Jacobs McClintock, Jeff Jacobs, Debbie Lampson, Michael Lampson, Mark Lampson John Paul Lampson while creating lasting memories. Mary was preceded in death by her son Jimmy Bullock, who was the highlight of her life, parents Antonio John (TJ) and Mary Cangelosi Lampson, sister Lee Jacobs, brother John Lampson and sister-in-law Mary Ann, and nephew Stephen Lampson.

Mary’s life path and passion included oil and china painting, jewelry-making, teaching art and craft classes, and growing orchids and other plants and vegetables in her greenhouse and garden. She was active in garden and china painting clubs and loved dancing. As a devoted Catholic, she was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and contributed beautiful bread sculptures for the Saint Joseph’s Altar Society’s annual Sicilian feast.

Mary spent her final years in Chappell Hill with her brother-in-law Louis Jacobs and nephew Jeff Jacobs. Her warm smile, love for Jesus, and her sweet spirit will be deeply missed.

The family would like to thank her caregivers for their kindness and care in her final days.

So now we all know that Mary is in heaven holding hands and dancing with her family and friends.

A visitation for Mary will be held on Wednesday, November 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1510 5th Street in Missouri City, followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m.

The Rite of Committal will follow, via funeral procession to Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road in Houston.

Following the Rite of Committal, all are invited to gather with family and share remembrances of Mary during a reception to be held at the Lasagna House III, 13306 Westheimer Road in Houston.
