Libbie A. Dulock

MRS. LIBBIE ZALMAN DULOCK, beloved wife and mother, went to the Lord on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, for well-deserved eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her husband of fifty-seven years, Victor, who preceded her in death by twenty-one years. Libbie was born in McLennan Co., TX, in 1915, where she played high school basketball and graduated from Axtell High School. She worked as a beautician before her marriage and all her life gave free permanents to her friends and relatives. She and Victor moved to Houston with their small family in 1942, where she lived for the rest of her life. Libbie reached her 96th birthday on July 28, 2011. She was a devoted mother of six children: Dr. Victor Dulock, Jr., PhD, of Las Vegas, NV, Fr. Vincent Dulock, C.S.B., of Sugar Land, TX, Dr. Malcolm Dulock, M.D., of Atlanta, GA, David Dulock, J.D., of Houston, Beverly Noles, RN, of Houston, and Virginia Manual, LMSW-AP, of Houston. Libbie is survived by her six children, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was a stay at home mom who also handled the phone and secretarial duties for her husband’s self-employed business. At great financial sacrifice, Libbie and Victor saw to it that all their children went through Catholic grade school, high school, and college. She never asked for anything for herself and devoted her life to raising her children, always encouraging them to work and study hard and make a difference in this world. Libbie was a very faithful Catholic and was active in the Catholic Church at St. Peter the Apostle in the Sodality, Mother’s Club and Altar Society, and encouraged her children to be active as well. After her children were grown, she worked for several years at Montgomery Ward’s department store. Libbie was the last survivor of her and her husband’s nuclear families. Although shy and self-effacing, she had many friends and was a very generous person. Her later years were peaceful and she always had a smile on her face, never complaining or demanding of others. Libbie will be greatly missed. A Visitation with the family will be held from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, on Sunday, January 8, 2012, at Earthman Southwest Chapel, Stafford, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, on Monday, January 9, 2012, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Houston. Rite of Committal will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
