Johnny Fred Boggs was born on August 25, 1934 in Stephville, Texas to the parents of Ray and Claudia Boggs. Johnny was second born out of four children. Johnny left us to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday June 21, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Reba V. Boggs of Sugar Land, TX., daughter Dana L. Kennemer of East Bernard, TX., and his grandchildren; Paige & Kenneth Whitehead, Mark Whiteford, Dallas Kennemer, and Amber Kennemer. He is preceded in death by his parents Ray and Claudia Boggs, brother Donald Boggs, sisters Claudean Warren and Brenda Boggs, and his infant daughter Susan Boggs.
At the age of 18 Johnny joined the Marines where he served 4 years in the Korean war. His Commanding Officer wanted him to stay and make a career in the Marines, but Johnny had other dreams. He majored in chemistry and minored in math. He attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. After two semesters, he was awarded a teaching fellowship to teach chemistry laboratory 101 and 102 (basic). During his second year he was inducted into the Gamma Sigma Epsilon Honor Society. He made the honor roll 5 of his 6 semesters of college. He was also elected as the person most likely to succeed of his senior class. He was awarded a teaching fellowship at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas, to work on his master’s degree in chemistry. Johnny then went on to work in the Oil field business. He was in the oil field business for over 40 years where he was known as the “Mud Man”. He owned his own company, Old Soldier Ltd, where he was very successful. He was an avid member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for 20 years. During his time at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Johnny was a member on the swine committee, and later became a director on the board of directors. He was a man of many accomplishment in his life.
Johnny’s family would like to thank all friends & family for your thoughts, prayers, messages, flowers, and visits. He loved every one that came into his life. Johnny Fred Boggs’s services will be as follows: His viewing will be on Monday June 26th, 2017 at Earthman Southwest Funeral Home from 10am-12pm. Followed by his funeral service at First United Methodist Church in Sugar Land from 1pm-2pm, and his burial service will be held at Forrest Park Cemetery at 3pm. The family will have refreshments at the Boggs residence afterwards.
