Jessie was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the 5th of 5 children. Growing up, she was an active member of Parkside Methodist Church in Baltimore. She and Charles were married on December 1, 1956. Once they were married, they traveled to Indiana to ‘try it out’ and discovered the cold weather was not for them! It was at that point they headed down to Huntsville, Alabama. They were blessed with two children, 15 months apart. Busy times took them down to Port Arthur, Texas then to Houston where they raised their children. Jessie was always active in her children’s lives. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years. Once their children were grown and on their own, Charles and Jessie moved from Spring Branch to their current residence. They enjoyed riding motorcycles, spending time with many, many friends and traveling. Jessie was an active member of Sugar Land FUMC and the United Methodist Woman. She helped organize the annual Craft Fair and was in charge of the Prayer Shawl Ministry. She enjoyed serving during special events for Easter, Christmas and VBS. Jessie found great joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She encouraged independence and joy for their lives. Jessie had a servant’s heart for her family, her church and her community. Jessie is loved by many and will be missed.
