David was born May 14, 1941, in Hallettsville, to Julius Grahmann and Helen Woitaske. After graduating from Sacred Heart High School in Hallettsville, he moved to Houston to begin a career as a machinist in the oil and gas industry. He married Norma Diehl on September 11, 1965 in Houston, and they had four children, Denise, Bruce, Greg and Dawn. After retiring from Schlumberger, he worked at Rulyn, EIM, and Emerson, where he retired in 2016.
He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and mini dachshund, Buster. He loved working in his garden and sharing the vegetables he grew with others and he looked forward to the annual week-long family fishing trip to Port Alto, on the Texas Gulf Coast.
He was preceded in death by: his father, Julius Grahmann, mother, Helen (Woitaske) Grahmann, and sisters Thelma Spies and Viola Grahmann.
He is survived by: his wife of 51 years, Norma (Diehl) Grahmann, daughter, Denise Davis, and her boyfriend, David Donahue; son, Bruce Grahmann and his wife, Angela; son, Greg Grahmann; and daughter, Dawn Reichling and her husband, Scott; Grandchilden: Kyle Grahmann, Travis Grahmann, Austin Grahmann, Justin Grahmann, Colby Grahmann, Courtney Grahmann, Lance Reichling, Zachary Reichling and Alex Reichling. Five sisters: Frances Hanslik, of Moulton, Irene Barton, of Yoakum, Gertrude Janak, of Hallettsville, Virginia Putska, of Hallettsville, and Mary Bruening, of Round Top; one brother, Andrew Grahmann, of Stafford; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
