Charlie Frazier

Charlie Frazier was born to Arthur & Jessie Mae Frazier on September 20, 1937 in the small, yet community centered city of Colfax, Louisiana. From an early age, he was surrounded by devoted friends and family who shaped his ability to use his hands to create wonderful things: a handwritten recipe that transformed into a meal just in time for dinner or an economical home repair using limited resources. If he could draw out a plan, he could deliver incredible results.

His hometown foundation later transported him to service in the Army during the Korean War, before establishing roots in Houston, Texas. Charlie attended Texas Southern University, along with his brother, Houston, where they met their lifelong loves, Joyce and LuElla (who happened to be roommates and best friends).

After graduating, he and Joyce established their first home on Trail Lake Drive, a residence with countless memories that they spoke fondly of for the rest of their lives. Charlie found a job at Cameron in 1968, which allowed life to take them to a beautiful home on Fox Briar Lane in Sugar Land, which was filled with love and memories that continued to blossom with the adoption of their son, Matthew, in 1991. Following his retirement from work, Charlie was able to fully indulge in his favorite hobbies: cooking for his loved ones, gardening with the greenest thumb, innovative woodworking, and calling to catch up. He admittedly saw a lot in life, and his biggest wish for 2020 was simply for Donald Trump to be voted out of office.

Anyone fortunate enough to taste Charlie’s iconic gumbo or receive one of his intricate crafts knows that with anything, he put his foot in it. His meticulous nature and incredible wit have left everlasting impact on the loved ones he leaves behind for a new adventure his: brothers, Houston (LuElla), James; son, Matthew (partner Leah, Brooklyn); sister, Denise; nieces, Deitra Thompson (husband Robert, Houston), Tia Destiny, Gabrielle Mickle; nephews, Derrick Frazier (wife Leslee), Trey Mickle, Lincoln Frazier. Charlie is welcomed with reverence by his beloved parents, wife Joyce, sister Cheryl Matchette, brother Darrell, and many ancestors. At last, he can peacefully relax.
