Born on December 5, 1951, Merle was a dedicated family man and a pillar of his community, known for his hard work, love of sports, and devotion to his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Vernon “Sarge” and Buelah Richter; and sister Darlene Newman.
Merle is survived by his loving family: his wife Vikkie; brothers Roger, Arlen “Red”, Dale, Karl; sons Kurt and Joe; stepchildren Bruce, Jennifer, Michelle, Michael and Scott; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His absence will be felt deeply by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
Since childhood, Merle showed an early talent and passion for sports (baseball, football, basketball, badminton, cross-country). His commitment to hard work extended beyond the field. Merle spent his professional career as a mason/bricklayer and took great pride in his work. He viewed each project as a legacy, knowing his craftsmanship would stand the test of time. This same effort was carried into his personal life. Family and friends were a strong foundation and joy for him; Merle was a constant presence and a beloved patriarch.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 6th, 2024 at Wulff Funeral Home at 1485 White Bear Ave, St. Paul, MN, with a visitation one hour prior.
