He was preceded in death by his first wife of 32 years, Marjorie Wetz, and his second wife of 31 years, Barbara Bartlett Wetz.
He is survived by daughters; Julia (Jason) Bartlett and Lisa (Jay) Lardy, and blended family children; Jon (Julie) Bartlett, Joan (Dave) Edin, Jennifer (Craig) Bryant, grandchildren; Brandon, Alex, Aaron, Ben, Zack, Allison, Kelsey, Veronica, Elizabeth, and Sarah, and seven great-grandchildren.
He was a life-long learner and earned multiple degrees, including a Master's in Chemical Engineering and a PhD in Statistics. This led to a fulfilling 33-year career at 3M.
Among John's defining qualities were sharp intelligence, wry sense of humor, and the capacity for kindness and generosity. He lived his life with integrity and purpose. He was an Army veteran, a long-time active member of the Woodbury Lions Club, and an active participant in his community. His most cherished role was as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 11, at 2:00 p.m. at Johanna Shores Fellowship Hall, 3200 Lake Johanna Blvd, Arden Hills. Light reception to follow. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
