Jeanne passed away on February 5th after ten years fighting various issues which led to her declining health. Throughout her battles her spirit never faltered. She was lovingly called "Ma" by her family, friends and caregivers.
Ma was born in Duluth on May 12, 1933 and was the youngest daughter of John and Barbara Stanco. She graduated from Denfeld High School and then attended the College of St. Scholastica for one year. Ma married Charles David Peterson, "Pop", on July 26, 1952 and they were married for nearly 70 years until Ma's passing. Ma and Pop raised their family of twelve children in Duluth, Hoyt Lakes - on the Mesabi Iron Range - and St. Paul. Ma cherished life and she cherished her family. She loved to celebrate family birthdays and holidays. She especially loved to play the organ on Christmas Day and hear her family sing along. Ma led her life with her beautiful heart.
Ma is survived by her loving husband, Pop, and all twelve of her children: Mike, Linda (Richard), Diane (Jeff), Mary (Randy), Joni (Eric), Dave, Steve, Jim (Patty), John, Tom (Sheri), Susie (Tony) and Joe (Gustavo), many beautiful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; her best friend, JoAnn and many other friends.
Thank you to all of the doctors, nurses and caregivers at the hospitals and care facilities which Ma visited, for the tender and loving care you gave to her. Ma appreciated you!
Ma was a very talented woman who could do anything she put her mind to. She chose to be a wife, mother and homemaker and she excelled at sewing, baking and many other things. Humorously, Ma never learned to drive a car. Thank you for everything, Ma!
We love you! We miss you! Rest in peace!
A Celebration of Ma's life will be held Sunday, February 20, 2022 from 1:00 - 5:00 PM at Wulff Funeral Home, 1485 White Bear Ave., St. Paul, MN 55016. Family and friends are welcomed to share stories and memories.
