Victor Manuel Fernandez, 92, died on Wednesday, September 18, 2013,at Delmar Gardens South.
Mr. Fernandez was born March 1, 1921, in St. Louis. He was the only son of Valentin and Carmen Fernandez. He enlisted at age 21 in 1942 with the Army Air Corps. He served as a Tech Sergeant maintaining aircraft in the India-Burma-China Theater and was discharged in 1946. Mr. Fernandez retired from Anheuser-Busch Brewery in 1983. He was an active member throughout his life of the Spanish Society in Carondelet.
Mr. Fernandezwasloved and will be missed by his four children, Carolyn, Jeanne, Stephen and Patricia (Terry) Trucks; granddaughter Krista Fernandez; and sister Anna (William) Boyd.
After 49 years of marriage, his wife Dorothy(nee Abel) preceded him in death in 1997. He died on what would have been their 65th wedding anniversary.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 20, at Hoffmeister South County Chapel at 1515 Lemay Ferry Road. Later there will be a private burial service in the family plot at Mount Hope Cemetery.
