Salvatore "Sam" Grillo

Salvatore "Sam" Grillo, age 88, of Foristell, Missouri passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022. He was born January 5, 1934 in Licata, Sicily. Sam and his family moved to the United States in 1972. He was predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Nunzia (nee Antona) Grillo.

Sam leaves behind his beloved wife, Carmela (nee Bulone), along with his children, Nunzia “Nancy” Ahrens-Burkholder, Angela (Rich) Lawton, and Doriana (Ron Martin) Grillo. He was a loving grandfather to Ashley, Spencer, Kayla, Taylor, Isabella, Christian, and great-grandfather to La’Naya, Emerson and Clara. Sam is also survived by his sisters, Pietra Modica and Emilia Cannizzaro. He will be truly missed by his sweet pups, Brutus, Drako, and Luna.

Sam had a passion for a good meal and loved to share his creations with his family. He spent time gardening the fruits of his labor. Family and tradition were important to Sam. He and Carmela shared sixty-seven years of marriage and raised a beautiful family. Sam was also member of the Italia-American Bocce Club here in St. Louis.

A visitation for Sam will be held Friday, December 9, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO 63125. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM. Following the service, Sam will be entombed at Mount Hope Cemetery and Mausoleum, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO 63125.
