She was born on April 8th, 1921 the daughter of Thomas and Ella Baker. The family moved to St. Louis in 1926. She attended Hodgen School, Siegel School and McKinley High School, Harris Teachers’ College and received her Master’s Degree in Education from Washington University. She was a retiree of the St. Louis Board of Education having taught for 42 years. Most of her teaching career was spent at Hodgen School. Mary Helen was a member of the Lafayette Park Baptist Church for many years and at the present time a member of the Southwest Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paschal George Riddle, her parents Thomas and Ella Baker and brothers Glenn, Charles, Lane and Lowell and niece Jacqueline Baumer. She is survived by her son John Mark Riddle, nephew Jerry Riddle and family, niece Mary Pratt and family, niece Gail Coleman and family and the family of her late nephew Edwin Riddle.
SERVICES: Funeral Service, Tuesday, December 22nd, 2:00 pm at Southwest Baptist Church, 6401 Scanlan Ave.; 63139. Visitation Monday, December 21st from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa St.; 63109. Interment on Monday, December 28th at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
