He was born on November 24, 1936 to the late Howard Wright Doty and Eunice “Minnie” (Chesney) Doty.
He is survived in death by his two sisters; Carol Sue “Susie" (Doty) Buie and Sharon (Doty) Anderson, his son; Heath Alan Doty, his grandsons; Jonah Layne Doty, Conlan Wright Doty, Landon Jacob Doty, and nephews; Rufus Tee Buie III, Brent Buie, and Jay Anderson.
Howard was a fun loving, hard working family man who grew up in central Arkansas. His childhood was one of your typical all-American boyhood rural experiences; playing football for his high school in Sheridan Arkansas, hanging out at the local drive-in soda shop, having fun with friends, learning trades to work his way through college and ultimately graduate from University of Arkansas with an MBA. He also served his country in the U. S. Navy Reserves.
Howard spent the majority of his career as an executive for Southwestern Bell Telephone / AT&T having achieved numerous awards and recognitions for his accomplishments. He was especially known for hiring and grooming great future talent at the company. This desire for mentorship, lavish generosity and support of others carried on with him throughout his retirement and up until his passing, as he volunteered with numerous organizations to help those in need.
With respect to his wishes, no formal funeral proceedings will occur. The family will host a private memorial in 2023.
