Fred was the loving husband of Patricia A. (nee Voightmann) Rau; devoted father of Robin Rau, Fred Rau, III, John (Christine) Rau, and Ann Rau; cherished grandfather, dear brother of Edward (Ruth) Rau and Richard Rau; dear brother-in-law of Jean (the late Jack) Pokorney; dear uncle, cousin, and a friend to many in his lifetime.
Fred fought for our country in both VietNam and Operation Desert Storm. He was a skilled cabinet maker, he enjoyed coaching volleyball and playing softball. The liked to play cards, drink an ice cold Pepsi, and watch a John Wayne movie.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 12 from 9-10:45am at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa Street, Saint Louis MO 63109. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, 2900 Sheridan Road, Saint Louis MO 63125, where Full Military Honors will be bestowed.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Fred's memory to the Alzheimer's Association would be greatly appreciated by his family.
