MATHEWS, Dorothy Jelinek, 92, on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. Beloved wife of the late Ralph A. Mathews; beloved mother of Pamela (the late James L. Brumby), Victoria, Rebecca (Thomas G. Minges), Dorothy (Ellen K. Dubinsky), and Ralph (Rita J.) Mathews; beloved grandmother of Megan, Peter, and Charles Mathews; dear aunt, great-aunt, cousin, godmother, and dear friend.
A world traveler, Dorothy described herself as a “Believer, Dreamer, Knitter, Quilter, Reader, Traveler, and Writer.” She was a resident of Bethesda Orchard after 88 happy years as a resident of the City of St. Louis. During World War II, she worked for the federal government and later, at the Catholic Health Association. She also volunteered her time at St. Mary’s Hospital. She spent her last days at de Greeff Hospice House surrounded by loving family and friends.
SERVICES: Visitation 2-8pm Thursday, May 16, 2013 at HOFFMEISTER COLONIAL MORTUARY 6464 Chippewa at Watson. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10am Friday, May 17, 2013 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church. Interment Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
