Charles (Mac) Meyer passed away on December 13, 2020. Charles was born in Durham, NC to his parents Charles Edward and Harriet Eileen. During his childhood he moved to New Smyrna Beach, FL and later to East Hampton, NY. He graduated from Long Island University in 1969 and worked for the Suffolk County Department of Health as a Senior Public Health Sanitarian for 35 years until his retirement in 2000. After his retirement he volunteered as an EMT for the Hampton Bays Ambulance, taught CPR for Southampton Town, and drove the Southampton Town senior shuttle. For many years he worked as a security guard for the Hampton Classic Horse Show. In later years he enjoyed vacations, dancing to country music, the beach, sailing on his sailboat, and friday night dinners with friends in NSB, FL. Visits to his family and traveling between his homes in NSB and Hampton Bays brought him much joy.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Valerie Lynn Meyer, brother Benjamin Meyer, and sister Cherie Reddy, daughter Michelle Hawkins, son in law Dr William Hawkins, daughter Kimberly Macey, son in law Andy Macey, and daughter Melinda Meyer and Dave Billick. Five grandchildren Caitlin Hawkins, William Hawkins, Patrick Hawkins, Caleb Macy, and Hannah Macey will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by Jerry “Patrick” Meyer. A private family service will be held at a later date.
