Bessie B. Polhemus, (nee Benfer) passed away on Jan. 23, 2018 at the age of 106. Born Feb. 2, 1911 to the late Earl and Julia Benfer; beloved wife of the late Warren E. Polhemus; loving mother of William B. and the late Robert E. Polhemus; dear grandmother of Dale E., Kelley A., and William W Polhemus; great grandmother of Warren J. Polhemus, Ssgt. Dale A. Polhemus, US Army, Heather A. Becht and Danielle M. Polhemus; great-great grandmother of Tyler and Kayla Polhemus, Peter and Sean Becht; aunt of Duane Kleppe and Dennis Locke; special friend of Dr. Renee Hester, Brenda Humphries, Laverne (Jeff) Cooper, Jim Trelford and Norman Gear. Bessie was preceded in death by her siblings Dr. Merrill Benfer, Lawrence Benfer, Arthur Benfer, Raymond Benfer, Alma Kleppe, Vera Boyer, Doris Palmer, Irene Penson, Christina Palmer, Lenora Turpin and Vernon Benfer.
Bessie graduated as a registered nurse from the University of Iowa in 1933.
