Peacefully, Patricia Mantin Gravel was called home to our Lord on July 10, 2024. She joins her husband, Lucien Gravel; brothers Donald, Joseph, Bill and Dennis and brothers-in-law Charles and Louis Gravel, Bill Ashe, and Luke Lucero.
A proud Haligonian, Patricia, the youngest of eight, was born into the Irish Canadian family of Patrick Mantin and Ethel Rose Levy-Mantin. She is survived by her sisters Mary Ashe, Joan Lucero, Anne Bradshaw; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Rene and Mathilde Bazinet, Sylvia Gravel, and Blanche Gervais; and their children.
She leaves behind cherished memories with her children Ann (Pierre Filion), John (Selina Chew), Mark (Suzanne Moreau), and Peter. Her loving grandchildren Genevieve, Andre (Christie), Julie (Valerie, and great- grandchildren Adelaide and Arizona), Michael, Nicolas (Brandy), Melissa (Robin), and Christian (Eunice), as well as cherished nieces and nephews who will continue her legacy of faith and appreciation of family.
Patricia enjoyed a fulfilling career with the DND as an English instructor to military personnel at BFC St-Jean-sur- Richelieu for thirty years, also earning a BA- Magna cum laude, in Sociology from Concordia (Loyola) University. True to her Irish Catholic upbringing, Patricia devoted her retirement through service to her parish, St. Thomas More, as well as the Catholic Women's League (CWL), visiting the sick, and enjoying time with her grandchildren coming to visit Nanny and their Poppa Luke.
We whole-heartedly thank the entire staff at the care unit of Chartwell- Legacy/Greenfield Park for their loving support for the last five years and their compassion shown upon her final days at Charles Lemoyne Hospital. You were her second family.
A funeral will take place on September 7, 2024, with visitation at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Parish, Greenfield Park, QC.
In lieu of flowers, any donations to Operation Smile Canada (operationsmile.ca) would greatly touch her heart.
