Jean Gariépy

Jean Gariépy was born on January 20, 1941 and left this earth on December 15, 2020. He leaves behind Théodore, Eleanore, Gabrielle, Daniel (Erin), and Marc (Stéphanie). He will stay with his beloved wife, Carol in spirit for eternity. May we all experience a love so strong.

In life, as in death, my father did things on his own terms. Often, this was to the dismay and/or delight of many. It did not matter to him. He taught me to be steadfast in my convictions. He taught me the importance of family and at times forgiveness. We forgave one another a lot over the years. He taught me to be kind to people, so that in turn, they would be kind to me. Much of my success in teaching is due to those lessons.

At times, he was larger than life. Many people have already offered condolences and beautiful stories about him to us. Please feel free to add your own if you so desire. He would have loved to read each and everyone. It will be my honour to do it for him.

The funeral for Carol and Jean Gariépy will be at Saint-Francis of Assisi parish in Saint-Lambert on September 3, 2022 at 11 AM.

All are welcome to attend and to share a meal with the family after the service in the basement hall of the church.

Jean Gariépy est né le 20 janvier 1941 et nous a quittés le 15 décembre 2020. Il laisse dans le deuil Théodore, Eleanore, Gabrielle, Daniel (Erin) et Marc (Stéphanie). Il restera à jamais en pensée dans le coeur de sa femme bien-aimée, Carol. Souhaitons tous d’avoir un amour si fort.

Mon père ne faisait qu’à sa tête jusqu’au dernier moment. Souvent, c’était au grand désarroi ou au grand plaisir de plusieurs. Cela n’avait aucune importance pour lui. Il m’a appris à tenir mordicus à mes convictions. Il m’a montré l’importance de la famille et du pardon. Nous nous sommes pardonnés bien des fois. Comme lui, j’essaie d’être gentil avec les gens pour qu’en retour ils le soient avec moi. Ces trois leçons ont contribué à faire de moi un bon enseignant. Il était un excellent mentor.

Si vous voulez partager des histoires ou des anecdotes, nous vous en serons très reconnaissants. Mon père était parfois plus grand que nature. Je sais qu’il aurait aimé lire chaque mot avec attention. Je le ferai à sa place avec la même ardeur.

Le service aura lieu le 3 septembre à Saint-Francis of Assisi.

Une réception aura lieu dans le sous-sol de l'église après le service.
