Audrey Ann (MacDougall) MacNeil

Audrey MacNeil (née MacDougall) passed away peacefully on October 6, 2024 at the age of 91, surrounded by love. Beloved wife of Bookie (deceased), loving mother to Lynn (Fadi), Karen (Denis) as well as their children Elieen, Sandra and Bernard (JoAnn). Loving grandmother to Olivia, Nicholas, Alexandra, Victoria, Veronique, Demi and Michael.

Born into a large and loving family in the small town of New Waterford, Cape Breton, Audrey will be deeply missed by her siblings Pat, Raymond, Yvonne, Marion, Carol-Ann, Judy and David, as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents James & Mary MacDougall, brothers Daniel and Bruce, sisters Jean, Myrna and Bernadette, and twin brothers in infancy.

She graduated from St. F. X. University and went on to become a lifelong learner and educator where she taught for over 50 years in schools across Canada, including indigenous communities as well as special needs students. Everyone knew Audrey was an artist at heart, her creativity came through in everything she did. Her art, crafts, and favorite recipes will live on through all of those she taught and inspired.

It was love at first sight when Audrey and Bookie (Hector) laid eyes on each other. Their epic love storywas powerful yet atypical. It came full circle to unite their children with a deep love for each other.

Audrey was a devoted, loving wife, mother and grandmother. Absolutely adored by her children and grandchildren, her zest and positivity were an inspiration to all. She always lived life to the fullest and loved an opportunity for a good laugh. An optimist at heart, she always had a kind word or thoughtful gesture towards others and took every opportunity to express her gratitude.

All are welcome to give condolences at St-Francis of Assisi church at 844 Avenue Notre Dame, Saint-Lambert, QC, J4R 1R8 on Saturday, October 26 as of 1:30 p.m.

Funeral mass will follow at 2:30 p.m., offered by dear family member, Fr. Vincent Daily.

Reception will be held immediately following the mass at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home, 307 Promenade Riverside, St-Lambert, QC, J4P1A7.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be directed to the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence, where Audrey spent her last days in beauty and dignity. Our gratitude goes out to the staff members who cared for her so lovingly.
