Condolences to the family. Bob and I came up through grade school and high school, did some tennis-ball hockey at Ghesquiere and played against each other in high school. Playing my company counterpart from Canada in the mid-1980s at Joe Louis Arena, someone gave me a "low bridge" behind the net. I went by the opposing bench where Bob was helping out, and I smiled and said: "did you order that?" Bob and I had a good laugh.

Well Robert...
You could not have said it better "Friends for Life" - We were friends for 65 years!  The closest thing to a brother anyone could ever have, and a great one at that!  Protected me until the very end.  I will cherish our last conversation for the rest of my life, and for that I thank you.  May Jesus protect and guide you and may you rest in peace.  No more pain my friend, enjoy the peace of nature you so enjoy.

  My condolences to Luke and family, may your memories help you find peace.  Know your father loved you dearly and was extremely proud of you.

So saddened by this news. My sisters and I grew up with Robert, as we lived up the street from his home. I will always remember him as a kind, hard working, and conscientious person.

Knew Mort for years. Hockey, school and the neighborhood. Very sad to hear of his passing.  No better hands to be in than with the Lord Jesus Christ.

I grew up a few streets away from Bob and we go back to elementary school at Monteith. 
We played hockey together for years and I worked for him in the summers during college. 
We’ve stayed in touch on a regular basis all these years. He always had clever remarks about the fledgling Red Wings and constantly harassed me about my hockey career at Michigan State. 
He was one of my best lifelong friends and I miss him terribly!
RIP Big Mort

A man I have known for the better part of 30 years. Always great conversations with him. I had no problem giving his name out for business referrals, he always gave 110% to everyone. RIP brother.

Have a lot of fond memories of the time I spent around Bob. He was like running into a brick wall on the rink. The boys called him “The Oak Man” Had a great smile and I could get a chuckle out of him when I’d yell Shots when in the bar throwing down a few after hockey. Hope your comfortable upstairs my friend.   John Allen

My condolences to the the Schomer family. I had known Bob since I worked for Shock Brothers. That's over 40 years. It was good seeing him over the years and we enjoyed talking about our love of nature and especially "trees"! RIP Bob! You earned it.
