Karen Ann Rygiel, age 74, of Harrison Township, Michigan passed away surrounded by her dearest family and friends on Friday, August 16, 2024. Karen was born on May 7, 1950, to parents John and Doris Kook. Karen is the beloved wife of 52 years to John R. Rygiel and most loving and supportive mother to Jacquelyn (David) Sprague and a cherished and most loved Baba to Grace and William Sprague. Dear sister to John P. (Carol) Kook, the late Thomas Kook and aunt to many nieces and nephews. Karen will be so very missed by many family and friends.
Karen will lie in-state on the date of her 52nd Anniversary at the same parish where the couple was married (1972), on Monday, August 26, 2024, beginning at 9:30 am, until time of mass at 10:00 am, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church 22415 Overlake Street, St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48080. Karan loved to celebrate her anniversary every year and this celebration of her life on this day is a beautiful tribute to her commitment to her loving husband, John and the family she dearly cherished.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, and again on Sunday, August 25, 2024, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm, with a scripture service at 7:00 pm, at Kaul Funeral Home, 28433 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores, Michigan 48081.
Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
Memorial donations in memory of Karen are suggested to St. Joan of Arc Church, Monsignor Bass Scholarship Fund or to the Manresa Jesuit Retreat House.
