I was Jim's son-in-law for the better part of a decade, May 2002 to April 2012. I have too many fond memories of getting to know him, learning from him, and laughing with him to share in one message. I am sorry for the loss his family must still be feeling.

My name is Joe Beaulieu. Jim and I were buddies in Nam. My nickname is Skeeter.  We were stationed  at Fort Lewis in Washington after leaving Nam. We bought identical Honda motorcycles together then rode across country  to Jim's house , stayed there for two days then I rode home to my house in  Oxford, Massachusetts. We were very good friends and I will miss him greatly. Those were wonderful times, even the time we fought in Nam.      

My big brother, James Brian Wright, was born February 3rd, 1949, died January 31st 2023, just 3 days short of his 74th birthday.
Jim was full of life.  He played and worked hard.  At a very young age he assisted our father in building a house for the family to live in.  He dug dirt, cut boards, nailed boards, plumbed water, sewers and heating lines, hung drywall and ran electrical wiring.  He was a cub scout, a football player in high school, a draftsman, a soldier in Vietnam, a lover, a husband and father of 4 and still a brother.  He was an engineer, a real engineer that made a difference.  He was a photographer, gardener, mechanic, jack of all trades kind of guy.  He enjoyed building models; from scratch he’d build sailable model sail boats and many models of air planes.  He got involved in model rocketry, model railroading, and an amateur astronomer and loved back packing.  He’s hiked and backpacked many a miles around this country.  He conquered the North Country trail. He was a hunter and shooter and collected firearms. 
I have many, many fond memories of interactions with Jim.  He included me in many of his activities during his life.  I was his best man at his wedding twice.  I did his first long distance back packing trip with him and his youngest son Casey (James).  We shot rockets, guns and hunted together.  He taught me how to ride a motorcycle, and he along with an Army friend rode their motorcycles across country when they separated from the Army in 1971.  
He was funny, serious, dedicated and broke our father’s nose wrestling when we were young.  He was my big brother, and I will miss him tremendously!
