Godfrey (Greg) Sauvé, beloved husband of Ursula Joann, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024. Godfrey was born on September 8, 1936. He graduated from St. Philip Neri High School in 1955, where he excelled in football and helped St. Philip Neri win the Division Championship. He won All City and All State Honors and was offered football scholarships to U of M and Michigan State but decided to join the Marine Corp instead. He was stationed at Camp Pendelton in California, where he also played football. Upon his honorable discharge as a Corporal in 1958, he married Ursula and returned to his job as a draftsman with Michigan Bell. He continued his schooling at Wayne State for 2 years in accounting and he also played semi-pro football. He transferred to the Yellow Pages Advertising Department, where he became a top-notch salesman. During that time, Michigan Bell became Ameritech, and he became a sales Manager. His sales force won many sales awards including trips with Ursula to Hawaii and Arizona. He also organized a union membership for the sales force in 1991, retiring the same year. Godfrey loved being on the water and owned 3 boats during his lifetime taking trips to Harsens Island, Bob-Lo Island, St. Clair, and Put-In-Bay. At that time, his home harbor was the Detroit Boat Club. On a personal note, he was an Usher at St. Jude Catholic Church and a Lector at St. Juliana. Godfrey thoroughly enjoyed watching his Grandchildren play sports. Godfrey and Ursula bought a Motorhome around 1997 and traveled to Arizona, California, New York, Branson, MO, Florida, and New Orleans, where they visited the former Sauvé Plantation. They bought a lot in Sanford and Saugatuck Michigan where they parked the Motorhome during the summer and created many memories. Godfrey leaves behind his beloved wife of nearly 66 years, Ursula. His children David (Catherine), Charles, Philip (Brandy). His 6 Grandchildren, Jessica, Chelsie, Erica, Mathieu, Evan, and Noah.
