Betty Lanelle Ritchie

Mom lost her long battle with that horrible disease this morning. She is finally at peace...

Betty Ritchie was born in Cookeville, TN. She attended schools in Detroit, graduating from Southeastern High School in 1951 and attending Oakland University in the 1970's.

She was predeceased by her husband, lnspector John (Jay) Ritchie, SCSPD, in 1996 and her parents Edna and Wayne Saylors. Betty was the proud mother of Karen Cameron, Jay (Holly) Ritchie and Kirk Ritchie. Loving and doting grandmother, she leaves behind Amanda Lynn Cameron, Jacob Ritchie, Rachel and Lillian Ritchie and, her beloved dog, Foxy. Also, her amazing caregiver, Margaret Brown.

Betty was active in the Lakeview Schools holding office in the P.T.O., P.L.A.Y., and was elected to the Lakeview School Board for two terms 1980-1986. She remained active in politics thereafter. She was also active in the St. Clair Shores Goodfellows for decades.

Betty founded Ritchie's Secretarial Service in 1973 and was Office Manager for SMZ Advertising for many years. She also founded Ritchie's Travel Service and travelled extensively around the world.
