A.J. was what you want in a coworker. He always came with a smile & ready to work. Some times our jobs are concerning when we drive wide, tall, & heavy trucks at construction sites & as a ready-mix driver we can be expected to get narrowly between or right to the edge with our truck to do our job.  A.J. always approached every job calm, collective, without fear, but still with his head in the game. Everyone at Paragon agrees that his presence will be missed. He was always kind,  caring,  & friendly. He was one of those people that made you feel better after being around and talking with. We are all better for knowing him.
May your happy memories bring you some comfort during this time.  My thoughts and prayers go out to you. 

In 2018, our paths crossed and I recognized Alan immediately. After about three weeks of talking on the phone (I had bronchitis and sounded like a squeaky mouse ), Alan asked me out and on our first date we went to see the movie, “A star is born”. I remember him asking me not to laugh at him when he teared up a little, and that’s when I realized that inside that big tough exterior was a kind and caring human being. Incidentally, Alan and I always had a great time together. We had the same silly sense of humor and our metaphorical glasses were usually half full. The Alan I knew, would have dropped everything to help a friend, he was a hard worker, smart, engaging, and funny, rarely complained about anything, had a gentle demeanor, and kind eyes. He was always supportive, patient, slow to anger, forgiving to a fault, and as his kids would probably agree, he gave especially great bear hugs. I believe that the time Alan and I spend together was life changing for the both of us and although we eventually went our separate ways we never stopped caring about one another. Alan would be the first one to tell you that life doesn’t always turn out like you plan. I pray that in the forefront will be Alan’s legacy of kindness, youthful athleticism, hard work, and dedication to caring for and providing for all 8 of his children, and that the resilience, courage, and strength he has shown, while NEVER giving up, no matter how daunting the circumstances might have been, will always be a shining light of inspiration to his family, to his children who meant the world to him, and to so many of Alan’s friends who know and love him.

AJ was my freshman roommate at Albion College.  We got along great!  We played 4 years of football together.   One of my favorite memories was when he had to visit the Dean of Students at Albion I told him his name was Dean Wormer (that was the Dean of the Animal House movie).  Of course he believed me!  He was also called the Bi County Bull from his High School days.  My condolences to the family .  - Jim Hall
