Passed away peacefully on September 21, 2012 ready to meet her Heavenly Father in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Henry Smeenk for over sixty-one years. Devoted mother of Yvonne (Bill) Korince, John (Sylvia) Smeenk, Frank Smeenk and Margaret Todd, and Wilma Smeenk. Proud grandmother of Kim, Derek, Jeff (Sarah), Brent (Lauren), Andrea (Shawn) and Brock and great grandmother of Andrew, Bailey, James, Kasey and Ellen. Survived by sister-in-law Maaike Dykstra and brother-in-law Johan Smeenk. Cherished aunt to her fifteen Dykstra nieces and nephews in Canada and many nieces and nephews in The Netherlands. Predeceased by her parents and all of her ten siblings.
Theresa will be fondly remembered for her devotion to providing a comfortable home for her own siblings, the families of employers and her own family; avid volunteerism for organizations in her church and Christian school communities; meticulous craftsmanship in sewing, knitting, crocheting and needle point, avid reading, playing cards and board games, and joy of camping and trailering with family and friends.
Theresa’s family will receive visitors at the Hulse & English Funeral Home & Chapel, 75 Church St., St. Catharines (905-684-6346) on September 25, 2012 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, 301 Scott St., St. Catharines on September 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Fred VanderBerg. A private family burial will take place prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, an expression of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to Shalom Manor, 12 Bartlett Ave., Grimsby, ON.
