The Blue Jays Stadium in Heaven is honoured to announce their newest 1st Baseman, Mr. #1000, Robbie Wilson to the starting line up.
Robbie, in his 52nd year was raised in St. Catharines and was a graduate of Grantham High School where he continued his education at Niagara College receiving a degree in Law as a Paralegal. Rob’s final employer was with Aramark Canada for the past 8 years working as the Service Technician for the Southwest Office in Stoney Creek.
Devoted not only to his family & friends, Robbie was an avid Baseball Player with the Niagara Slo-Pitch League in St. Catharines. He played for the Astro’s, Turkeybellies, Inferno Co-ed and supported his wife on the Inferno Ladies team. Our #93… remaining forever loyal to his golf game, Blue Jays, The Leafs and his music (Kiss, Rush & U2)
Our HERO gave cancer a solid 9 month battle and Rob fought with every ounce of strength he had so he could continue his journey with his devoted wife Charlene. His children Leah, Jamie & Alicia are and will always be the centre of his heaven. Robbie is also leaving behind his beautiful mom, Joan Wilson. He was a dear big brother to his only sister Colleen (Paul) and an incredible uncle to Damonte, Ben, Lyndsay, Ryan, Jackson, Megan, Noah, Easton, Rylan, Cowan, Matthew, Amber, Calla, Kali, Elizabeth, Isabelle, Sydney, Nathan, and Miranda. Robbie has been reunited with his dad, the late Edward Wilson, his nephew Isiah Wilson and his grandparents; Graham and Lottie Parker and Henry and Sarah Wilson.
He will be terribly missed by his in-laws Bernie and Angela Taylor and Charlie and Sharon Poirier.
A brother-In-Law to Kelly and Jeff Lortie, Cherie Bernard (Lyle), Charmaine Clark (Roc), Steve and Andrea Poirier, Debbie and Mike Pearse, Darren Martin (Kristin), Lise Martin. Fondly remembered by his many cousins, aunts and uncles, his many friends and especially Robbie’s best friends (you know who you are).
An extended thank you To Dr. Huma Qawi, Dr. Bukari, Emily and the many nurses that wrapped around his heart, especially in his last 2 weeks. Our family would not be able to cope without the personal love and support that we received individually from each and every one of you!!! The St. Catharines Walker Clinic and Oncology team allowed Robbie to fight with grace and dignity.
Rob would like all his family, friends and fans from near and far to join him for his last ball game at Joe McCaffery Park, 61 Vansickle Rd., - Diamond #3 on Wednesday, July 22nd at 5:00pm. The after party celebration will follow at the Wilson home at 3 Rabuka Ave, St. Catharines (BYO lawn chairs).
As an honour to his furry girl Sahara, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society or to a sport organization to assist children and families in need.
In closing he whispers, “Please don’t call me Baby.”
