Lance (or Tommy to his GM friends) served in the British Merchant Marine before emigrating to Canada in 1957 with his wife Dorothy and baby Julie. They settled in Hamilton where they welcomed their son Rob. Lance worked for E.D. Smith and Stelco before moving on to General Motors in St. Catharines. There, Lance and Dorothy embraced time spent together with their growing children and family cat Tinker. He was an active volunteer at Carleton United Church, a faithful blood donor and enjoyed managing minor soccer. After Dorothy’s death in 1977, he remained a widower until meeting Margaret and marrying her in 1985. Together they enjoyed ballroom dancing and long walks on the Niagara Parkway with his beloved dog Prince. After his years as a machine repairman at GM, he and Margaret enjoyed a wonderful retirement of golfing, travelling and spending time with family.
Lance is predeceased by his parents Percy and Edith Nowell, brothers Haydn (Miriam) and Leonard (Doreen), his first wife Dorothy and granddaughter Leah. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his loving wife Margaret, daughter Julie (Greg), son Rob (Heather), grandchildren Grant (Jenna), Matthew, Raymond (Sabrina) and Hilary, his great grandchildren Charlee, Dallas and Ethan and his beloved fur baby Katie.
The family would like to thank the incredible nursing team at NHS for their compassionate care and family doctor Dr. Justin Ramanauskas and Geoff Straw (Hospice Niagara) for their unwavering support of our family.
