Wilma Mae Worley, age 98, of Maryland Heights, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. Wilma’s journey was marked by love, service, and a profound connection with family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Golda (nee Wilson) Gregory, her beloved, Asher Worley, Jr. , and an infant brother, Winfred Gregory, along with a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Gregory. Wilma leaves behind her brother, Kenneth Gregory, a niece, Holly (Allen) Bruno, and a dearly beloved great nephew, Nathan.
Wilma embarked on her professional journey as a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse. However, after two years, she realized that teaching wasn’t her true calling. In the midst of World War II, she transitioned to the shoe factory, initially cutting shoes. Post-war, when men resumed control of the factory, Wilma and her female colleagues transitioned to clerical roles. It was in this shift that she discovered her aptitude for accounting. Wilma then ventured in her career as an accounting clerk, first at Meadowbrook Country Club and eventually finding her professional home as an Assistant Production Planner at Chevron Oil, where she dedicated 30 years of service until her well-deserved retirement.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, she found fulfillment in her roles as a dedicated church member, a vibrant participant in the Red Hat Society, and a proud member of the Daughters of the Revolution. She and Asher had a zest for life extending to their passion for travel, exploring the beauty of the United States. Wilma found joy in the beauty of flowers and tending to her flower beds. In moments of strength, she generously volunteered at DePaul hospital, embodying the spirit of giving. Above all, her heart found its greatest joy in the companionship of her great nephew, Nathan. Their shared moments were filled with love, laughter, and a timeless bond prevailed. We honor a life well-lived, marked by dedication, kindness, and a profound love for family and community.
