Violet Lavon LaRue, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 22nd, 2024, in Arnold, Missouri, at the age of 89. Born on May 3, 1935, in the quaint town of Oates, Missouri, she graced the world with her warmth and kindness for nearly nine decades.
Violet was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Montie LaRue, sharing a beautiful partnership that spanned 65 years until his passing. Together, they embarked on numerous adventures, traveling across the majestic landscapes of the Western United States. Their journeys not only enriched their lives but also deepened their friendships with many kindred souls met along the way.
Her career began in 1953 at USDC, where she worked diligently until 1959. Following this, Violet embraced the cherished roles of a housewife and devoted mother, fostering a nurturing home filled with love and laughter.
A woman of steadfast faith, Violet found immense joy in attending church and reading her Bible. Her spirituality was a cornerstone of her life, providing solace and strength through all seasons. She delighted in the simple pleasures of life, particularly cherishing moments spent with her family. Her heart swelled with happiness watching her husband, Montie, and son, Richard, engage in friendly fishing competitions.
Music was another passion that Violet shared closely with her husband. They spent countless hours enjoying the harmonious sounds of Southern Gospel Quartets and the lively melodies of Bluegrass music.
Violet's legacy is lovingly carried forward by her surviving family: her son, Richard LaRue; her granddaughters, Amanda (Randy) Chapman and Jennifer (Cody) Stewart; her grandson, Richard LaRue Jr.; and her great-grandchildren, Celenda Violet Chapman and Gratton Ray Chapman.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Montie LaRue, and her cherished parents, Alphus and Doshia Johnson.
Violet Lavon LaRue will be remembered for her unwavering love, gentle spirit, and the joy she brought into the lives of those who knew her. In the hearts of her family and friends, her memory will forever be a guiding light.

A visitation will be held for Violet on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Alexander White Mullen Funeral Home, located at 11101 St. Charles Rock Rd, St. Ann, MO 63074. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, October 30th, at 11:30 am at Alexander White Mullen Funeral Home. The committal service will immediately follow the funeral at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
