Dorothy “Dottie” L. Nix, 90, of Maryland Heights, Missouri, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024. Born in 1934 to John Lewis and Cora McDowel, Dottie brought love, warmth, and a touch of elegance to everyone she encountered.
A woman of simple joys and deep connections, Dottie cherished her time getting her hair and nails done, a ritual that reflected her timeless grace. She had a tender heart for animals, often feeding the neighborhood’s wildlife and making friends with the horses nearby. Dottie’s adventurous spirit shone through her love for travel, and she always brought a sense of wonder and joy wherever she went.
Her greatest joy, however, was her family. Dottie shared an extraordinary bond with her daughter and best friend, Brenda Banks, to whom she brought breakfast from Tony’s Donuts nearly every day—a small but profound gesture of her endless love.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, John Lewis and Cora McDowel; her beloved daughter, Sandra Bielsmith; her husband, John Nix and her brother-in-law, Everett Nix. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Brenda Banks, who was the center of her world.
Dottie’s legacy is one of love, care, and a life lived with beauty and purpose. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
