Willis John Reilly, age 77, a resident of Alexandria, Virginia passed away on September 19, 2011. He was a retired Deputy Director of Security for the CIA. He is survived by his wife, Virginia “Lee” Reilly; Four children, Bernadette Johnston (Scott), Boyd Reilly (Elaine), Ellen Reilly and Paul Reilly (Laura); brothers, Paul Reilly and Gorman Reilly (Janice); six grandchildren. Predeceased by sister, Jane Dibbell in 2006. Visitation will be Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 6-8pm at Demaine Funeral Home Springfield. Funeral Mass will be Friday, September 23, 2011 at 11am at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Springfield, Virginia. Burial will follow at Fairfax Memorial Park, Fairfax, Virginia. Willis J. Reily served with distinction for over 35 years in the security field with the Central Intelligence Agency. Beginning in 1955 as an Investigator, other assignments included responsibility for adjudications, physical and technical security, computer security, and operational security for large collection projects. He also served as an Administrative Officer in both the overseas and headquarters environments.
A long standing senior manager within the Office of Security, Willis managed all facets of the security business. He had expertise in the design , theory, and operation of compartmented security systems. In addition, he had extended experience as a member and leader of several inter-agency governmental comittees concerned with major issues in the security and counterintelligence arenas.
Willis served domestically and overseas in Europe, the Middle East and Far East with proven flexability. At the time of his retirement in 1991 from the position of Deputy Director of the Office of Security, Willis was responsible for the activities of over 2000 personnel and multi-million dollar budgets.
During his career, Willis received many awards including a Certificate of Distinction and the Distinguished Intelligence Medal.
