Thomas (“Tom”) Daniel Hicks, 82, of Fairfax Station, VA passed away peacefully at Fairfax Hospital on September 24, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born in 1941 in Pamplico, South Carolina to the late Stanley Hicks and Florrie Stone Hicks, Tom grew up in a lively and loving household with eleven brothers and a sister.
In 1980, Tom married the love of his life, Cindy. They were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Kristin and Megan. Later in life, Tom cherished every moment with his three grandchildren, Alexandra, Caroline, and Matthew.
Tom dedicated over forty years of his career to serving as a senior civilian in the Department of Defense. Tom was also a valued and active member of his local community. Always eager to lend a helping hand, he served for many years on the Board of Trustees and governing committees for the Crosspointe community where he lived. He also attended church at St. Bernadette, and later St. Raymond of Peñafort, in Springfield, VA with his family.
Tom is survived by his wife, Cynthia (“Cindy”) Hicks; two daughters, Kristin Hicks (Bryce Loidolt) and Megan Hicks (Brent Pritts); three grandchildren, Alexandra Pritts, Caroline Loidolt, and Matthew Pritts; three brothers, Gerald Hicks (Annette), Legrand Hicks (Ann), and Ronald Hicks (Mattaline); and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Leola Turner, and eight brothers, Eugene, Alvis, Herman, Julian, Joseph, Dewey, Aron, and Wayne.
Tom’s legacy of love, kindness, and service will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege to know him. A memorial service will be held at 11am on October 8, 2023 at the Demaine Funeral Home in Springfield, VA.
