She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Dennis Thaxton; her dear mother Docia Williams of Bowie, TX; niece April Farmer (Josh) of Evington, VA; and nephew Christopher Masseth (Kristy) of Wake Forest, NC.
Sarah was born October 19, 1961 in San Antonio, TX. Her career included working as a staff assistant for the House Banking Committee, the Assistant to the Director of the CDFI Fund, as well as the Assistant to the Director for the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight, and also as the Records Administrator of the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
She was loved and admired by all who knew her, and that charming smile of hers would always light up the room. She was renowned for hosting parties for friends and neighbors, whether it was a catered holiday gathering or simply having guests over for chili and cocktails on Halloween.
She and her husband loved traveling, with an affinity to gravitate towards the water. Whether it was spending time at the Outer Banks, or going on one of the multitude of cruises they experienced together, there was always an adventure to be had.
Her other passion was attending Washington Nationals baseball games. She was particularly fond of what she called her “Friday night date nights” at the ballpark.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sarah’s name to the ASPCA.
