Patricia (Tricia) Ann Boone-Proctor, ESQ. Mrs. Patricia (Tricia) Ann Boone-Proctor (71), transitioned to the eternal place in the heavens not made with hands on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2019 at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital, Fairfax Virginia after prolonged pulmonary illness. Mrs. Boone-Proctor, a native Pennsylvanian born on July 22, 1947 in Allentown, began her childhood academic journey with attendance through the rigorous Catholic Schools of Bethlehem, PA her hometown. Her successes there led to landing on the steps of North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University (NC A&T) in Greensboro NC in 1965, an august and renown Historically Black College and University (HBCU). It is there she met, fell-in love with and chose Hawthorne L. “Peet” Proctor to be the love of her life - her Best Friend Forever and Life-Partner! Shortly after graduating from North Carolina A&T in 1969, she relocated to Seaside, California to be on the West Coast for a brief period of time. In September 1970, they were married in Bethlehem, PA., where she remained when Peet headed off to Vietnam. In 1972, she accompanied Peet on his first post-Vietnam US Army assignment in the Far East to Thailand. While there, Tricia taught English and served as the Social Chairperson for the American Wives Club. There, her warm charm, keen wit, genuine engagement and selflessness within the US Army community endeared her and cemented the foundation of the Tricia & Peet power couple dynamic. Following two years in Thailand and a brief stint at the US Army Quartermaster School, they were reassigned to the 25th Infantry Division Schofield Barracks in Wahiawa Hawaii where she continued teaching and community service. However, in 1978 upon relocating to the US mainland she began her work in the Social Work field for three years then decided to pursue her lifelong professional passion for Law, to be a lawyer and possibly a judge. She did so by applying for, matriculating to and subsequently graduating from Howard University Law School, Washington DC in 1984. Immediately upon graduating from Howard Law School, she returned to Hawaii in 1985 and continued her support of Peet in Community Service at Schofield Barracks and later at Carlisle Barracks, PA. Upon Peet’s reassignment to Ft. Lee, VA, Tricia was able to gain some invaluable insights in the contracting field. When they moved to Alexandria VA, Tricia became known as the “go-to-attorney” in the Washington, DC’s Family Law Division. Consequently, the US Army had other plans and again uprooted Tricia and Peet, with them departing DC for Hawaii in 1992, resulting in a pause of Tricia’s legal career during Peet’s critical command years with her now pursuing a career as a human resource professional. This continued for her in Richmond, Virginia during Peet’s tenure as the Quartermaster General at Ft. Lee, Virginia. Eventually, Tricia culminated her stellar civil service career as a Contract Law Attorney within the US Army Communications and Electronics Command (Special Programs) at Ft. Belvoir Virginia. Aside from a distinguished varied career in Social Work, Human Resources and Law, Tricia was a voracious reader and phenomenal solver of cross-word puzzles. She also loved engaging conversations with everyone she met. Additionally, she was a Life-Member of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., and selfless volunteer at Arlington National Cemetery as an Army Arlington Lady representing the Army Chief of Staff when Soldiers and Veterans were laid to final rest. Tricia was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pedro and Kathryn Boone of Bethlehem PA, her older sister Brenda Boone Whitman, her brother Mr. Robert D. Boone and younger sister Ms. Valerie G. Boone. She is survived by her husband, MG (Ret) Hawthorne L. “Peet” Proctor of Clifton VA and a nephew, Mr. Brian Boone, nieces, Pamela Dawkins (Andre) and Angela Brown (Rodney), and five grandnieces and nephews. Additionally, her brother-in-law Robert Hartridge (Brenda) God-granddaughter 2LT Erin Connors, SES Kent and Col Nicole Clark and their children Kaitlyn and Evan are the Proctors adopted family! MG Proctor thanks the many friends, especially Dr. Jin Su and Michele Choi, Ms. Michele Davis, Col ® Bernard Warrington and family, as well as so many other great friends, relatives, associates and the hospital staffs of Walter Reed Hospital, Ft. Belvoir Community Hospital and the Inova Hospital Group for their terrific support for Tricia during her extended illness. Tricia will be interred in the Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Peet’s final words for Tricia – the Love of His life! To the Love of My Life So many things you did for me, No single day goes by, That memory fails to hold its mirror Before my grateful eye! Gone but not forgotten. Your loving husband Hawthorne In lieu of flowers, a Memorial contribution may be made to the "Southern Poverty Law Center" in honor of Mrs. Tricia Boone-Proctor.
